About Kihara Memorial Yokohama Foundation
Kihara Memorial Yokohama Foundation for the advancement of life sciences was established in March 1985, to commemorate Dr. Hitoshi Kihara whose worldwide achievements in evolutionary biology and genetics through his abundant studies of wheat, and in order to promote life sciences towards its bright developments for the coming 21st century. Since then the Foundation has been conducting wide range of businesses; coordinating joint researches of life sciences, research information exchanges, academic researches, fellowship, publishing, and knowledge dissemination, through collaborating with Kihara Institute for Biological Studies, Yokohama City University.
In 2005, by reorganization of Yokohama City University to Public University Corporation, the Foundation has restarted as an affiliate under the control of Economic Affairs Bureau of Yokohama City. Since then the Foundation has not only been cooperating with developments of Life Science in Yokohama but also been supporting regional industrialization.
In 2013 the Foundation has obtained the certification of Public Interest Incorporated Foundation from the governor of Kanagawa Prefecture .
